This Veteran’s Day, the members of Ironworkers Local 512, serving Minnesota, North Dakota, and northwest Wisconsin, worked particularly hard to honor the men and women who have fought for our country. Veterans gave so much of their time serving, it only felt right for the union members to donate some of theirs.
Thanks to funding from Minnesota Legacy and International Ironworkers, and material donations from a number of local companies, Twin Cities’ members of Local 512 built two 70-foot bridges at Veterans Campground on Big Marine Lake. Union members and local construction companies worked together to design and craft bridges that will provide a path for disabled veterans who visit and explore the grounds. Because of the wetlands, the 90-year-old camp is unable to have an integrated trail system throughout its 69 acres – a key solution the bridges provide.
The union members were thrilled to express their gratitude to those who serve our country and look forward to continuing to give back whenever possible.
